Living at Full Power: Embracing Your Human and Divine Self

By Michal Spiegelman

It was the week before hosting two highly anticipated, in-person workshops in Atlanta. I was cool as a cucumber on the outside but on the inside, I was fighting a battle that no one else could see.

It was a battle between anxiety and trust, between the human and divine parts of myself. This blog is about how embracing both parts of yourself can help you live at full power.

In the days leading up to the workshops, I was immersed in the creative process. It was thrilling to design an experience that would be transformative and fun. Then, my daughter who was visiting from Israel, tested positive for Covid. I felt myself going back and forth between panic mode and a Zen-like acceptance, from “Even if I test positive too and have to cancel the workshops, it will all be okay,” to “OMG! People are flying in and booking hotels, what if I have to cancel!?”

It was like two different selves within me were fighting for control.

First, there was my human self. The cooking meals, doing laundry, Type A planner Michal that was insanely anxious. Then there was the divine, deeply rooted, spiritual mentor Michal that knew all the right things to say.

The divine, trusting part of myself told me…

  • It’s out of my control.
  • I can turn challenges into opportunities.
  • One of my spiritual lessons is to learn to let go and trust.
  • Whatever is meant to happen for my greatest and highest good will happen.
  • If I choose to grow from this, I can totally see the blessings.

This was an opportunity to turn into my internal guidance system: my inner wisdom and intuition.

I connected with life-force energy (in other words, I treated myself with Reiki) and asked for guidance. I felt led to pick up my journal and a pen. I asked my soul what it wanted to say and wrote whatever came up, without overthinking.

What I discovered was a dialogue between my human self and my divine self.

Most of the time, my divine self was fully present. There were moments when my anxiety took over, but I was very aware of this gentle dance between my human and divine selves. Each of these parts of me spoke their truth. I can honestly say that what they wrote is not important. What’s important is how I felt when I was done writing.

I felt connected. Supported. Guided. At peace.

You see, Beacon, our souls have wisdom. Sometimes we reach a point where we need to rely on our own inner guidance to navigate life’s challenges. All of us have an inner knowing just waiting to be heard. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I know I can tap into my inner wisdom to find the answers I seek.

It’s crucial to connect with your soul; she holds the key to unlocking the wisdom within.

Although the noise of the world can be distracting, I believe we all possess the ability to let our souls speak, listen to our intuition, and hear our inner wisdom. You just need to make the conscious choice to turn inward and ask for insight. Your soul holds the deepest truths, and it’s up to you to listen to her voice. The tagline on my website, Beacons of Change, is “Women Living at Full Power”.

Full power is tapping into our personal power (our human selves) and our spiritual power (our divine selves).

Women who live at full power are women who live to their highest potential. At its core, living at full power means embracing the gentle dance between your human and divine selves. It means balancing both your personal power, which stems from your human self, and your spiritual power, which stems from your divine self and your connection to life force energy.

Personal power refers to your ability to take control of your life and make positive changes. It involves recognizing your strengths, setting boundaries, and making decisions that align with your values and goals. When you tap into this source of power, you feel confident, empowered, and capable of achieving your dreams.

Spiritual power refers to the energy that flows through your body and connects you to the universe. It involves understanding your true essence and purpose and aligning with your higher self. When you tap into this source of power, you will feel a profound sense of peace and fulfillment.

By living at full power, you can harness the strength of both your personal and spiritual power to create positive change in the world. To live, love, and lead connected to your inner voice and intuition. As women, we have a unique ability to be Beacons of Change and inspire others to live at full power as well.

Back to the week before the workshops…I didn’t get sick.

I was happy and healthy and hosted two amazing days of healing and connection. The experience was amazing, and we got great feedback from the women who attended. I never teach what I don’t need to learn myself, and the following week presented an opportunity. I taught the concept of our human and divine selves to two of the women I mentor.

One woman had done everything in her power to save her marriage. When it became clear that her intention was one-sided and not supported by her husband, she filed for divorce. Her human self said, “I feel like I’m making the biggest mistake of my life,” while her divine self said, “I choose to be true to myself.”

The other woman was trying to reconnect with a family member she hadn’t been in touch with for years. “I resent you for not being there for me,” said her human self. Her divine self said, “I’m sorry I was mean to you, and I wish I’d felt secure enough to behave differently.”

Both women were able to witness the gentle dance between their human and divine selves.

I want to share a journaling practice with you that I learned from a spiritual teacher in Israel. When the voice of your human self gets loud, this practice will help you connect with your divine self. To tune into your soul, it’s best to ask questions that start with “What opens up when I…”.

Journaling Prompts to Connect with Your Divine Self:

Take a journal and a pen. Think about a specific challenge you are facing. Ground and center yourself. As you ask yourself each question, let your soul speak through the words you write.

  • What opens up when I release control?
  • What opens up when I trust myself?
  • What opens up when I let go of the fear and relax?
  • What opens up when I bring more ease into all that I do?
  • What opens up when I treat myself with more kindness and compassion?
  • What opens up when I’m fully present, focused, and also go with the flow?
  • What opens up when I shift from warrior to warrior?

Just ask, writing down what comes up without overthinking. Simply asking the questions brings lightness into your being. Choose one of the questions that fill you with hope and possibility, write it on a sticky note and post it in your space.

Keep asking yourself the question, and the day will come when you’ll realize the question has been answered.

If you want to practice more ways to connect with your internal guidance system, join my upcoming 5-Day Fill Up Your Soul Challenge. It’s free, it’s fun, and you’ll learn easy ways to fill up your cup and reconnect with joy.

Let’s let our souls speak. Together.
