What to Expect After Your Reiki Class

Understanding the Emotional, Physical, and Energetic Shifts After Reiki Level 1 Training

Completing your first Reiki class can feel both exciting and uncertain. You’ve opened the door to a deeper connection with yourself, and now your body, mind, and energy field are beginning to adjust.

Many new students experience emotional shifts, physical sensations, and even spiritual insights in the days that follow attunement.

This is all part of the energetic integration process—and understanding what’s happening can help you move through it with confidence, compassion, and clarity.

You’ve Just Completed Reiki Level 1 — Now What?

The time immediately following your first Reiki class is a unique and often personal phase. You’ve been attuned to a new level of energy awareness, and that shift can open emotional, physical, and mental responses. Some students feel immediate sensations, while others experience more subtle or delayed effects.

This is a time for observation and gentle self-awareness. As your energy field adjusts, you may notice shifts in how you feel, think, or respond to the world around you. There’s no single “right way” to experience this process. What matters most is staying open to what unfolds and giving yourself the space to integrate this new layer of energetic connection.

What Happens Right After a Reiki Class? (First 24–72 Hours)

In the first few days after your Reiki Level 1 class, it’s common to notice a wide range of experiences—both subtle and noticeable. This period often includes physical, emotional, and energetic shifts as your system begins to align with the new flow of Reiki energy.

Many students report feeling tired, calm, or emotionally open. You might experience physical sensations such as tingling, warmth, light pressure, or lightheadedness.

Some people notice a temporary increase in emotional sensitivity or even spontaneous emotional releases like crying or laughter. These are signs that energy is moving and blockages are beginning to clear.

You may also have vivid dreams, changes in sleep patterns, or shifts in your appetite or mood. These reactions are part of a natural adjustment process as your energy body integrates the attunement. It’s helpful to stay hydrated, rest when needed, and gently observe any changes without overanalyzing them.

Emotional and Energetic Shifts Over the Next 1–2 Weeks

As the days pass, many Reiki students begin to notice more layered or subtle energetic changes. The first week after attunement often brings an increased awareness of emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations. You might feel more connected to your intuition, more affected by other people’s energy, or more emotionally responsive to situations that once felt neutral.

This period can also bring up unresolved emotions or memories as deeper energetic blockages start to surface. These shifts aren’t always comfortable, but they are part of the clearing process. Journaling, light movement, hydration, and grounding practices can support your system as it adjusts.

Some students describe a “cleansing” or “resetting” feeling—like their energy is reorganizing itself. This is often linked to what’s known in Reiki as the 21-day energetic integration period. During this time, it’s especially helpful to maintain a consistent self-practice, even if short. Staying connected to your energy daily helps support balance and growth.

What’s Normal—and When to Reach Out

After your Reiki Level 1 class, your energy is recalibrating—and that process can bring physical, emotional, and spiritual changes. Many students experience waves of emotion, vivid dreams, or a sense of being more energetically sensitive. These are common responses as your system integrates the attunement and begins to release old patterns.

These shifts are a normal part of the Reiki journey, and you don’t need to navigate them alone. At Beacons of Change, we offer continued guidance and support to help you feel grounded and empowered as you adjust to your new energetic awareness.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed—struggling with sleep, heightened emotions, or uncertainty about what you’re experiencing—you can reach out to your teacher, Michal Spiegelman.

As the founder of Beacons of Change and a Reiki Master with decades of experience, Michal offers compassionate support and deep insight into the emotional and energetic shifts that follow attunement. Learn more about Michal’s approach to Reiki teaching and support in this personal introduction.

This is a powerful time of change. Returning to grounding tools, daily check-ins with your energy, and self-compassion will help support your integration and inner balance.

Your First Self-Treatments at Home

Starting your own self-treatments is one of the most empowering steps after Reiki Level 1. It’s an opportunity to build trust in your connection with Reiki energy and begin creating a personal practice that supports your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

You don’t need to aim for perfection or long sessions—consistency and intention matter more than duration. Even 10–15 minutes a day can make a difference. Start by finding a quiet space, placing your hands on your body intuitively, and allowing the energy to flow. Over time, you’ll begin to notice patterns in how you feel and where your body responds.

It’s also beneficial to journal after your sessions—recording how you felt, what sensations came up, and any emotional shifts. This helps you stay connected to your journey and track how your awareness is evolving over time.

Practices to Stay Centered and Aligned

The days and weeks following your Reiki Level 1 training are an ideal time to start building habits that support balance and clarity. These don’t need to be complex or time-consuming—simple, intentional practices repeated consistently are what help your energy stay steady.

Many students find comfort in starting their day with a few minutes of Reiki, repeating the 5 Reiki Principles, or doing a short body scan to check in with how they feel. Others prefer evening self-treatments to help release the energy of the day. What matters most is making space to pause, breathe, and connect.

Grounding techniques like walking barefoot, spending time in nature, or doing gentle stretching can also help stabilize your energy and prevent emotional overwhelm. If you’re feeling disconnected, these practices can bring you back to your center quickly.

You don’t need to do it all. Start small, stay consistent, and remember that your relationship with Reiki deepens with practice.

Final Thoughts – Be Gentle With Yourself

This phase of your Reiki journey is filled with possibility—and sometimes uncertainty. The most important thing you can do right now is give yourself permission to grow at your own pace. Every experience you have, from subtle shifts to emotional waves, is part of a larger realignment that begins with attunement and continues for a lifetime.

There’s no need to rush. Reiki meets you exactly where you are, and your only job is to stay present and curious. Some days you may feel deeply connected. Other days, not at all. That’s part of the rhythm.

Stay consistent, trust your process, and remember that you’re supported. Your teacher, Michal Spiegelman, and the Beacons of Change community are here to help you stay grounded, connected, and inspired as your relationship with Reiki continues to unfold.

You’ve taken an important first step. Everything else will meet you on the path.
