It’s the first day of reflexology class and on the desk facing the students I set a wooden cutout of the word “Y E S”.? It sits there quietly until after break.? Then we talk about it.
At least a third of our lives, and much more than that for many, is spent doing what we humans call “working”.? Just think about that for a moment.? But what if, what it is that we are doing, is bringing joy to us and those we are serving??? Here’s the challenge I pose to them.? Pay attention to, become aware of and then embrace those moments when “Yes” appears.
Exactly what is the yes response?? It’s when we’ve truly connected with what it is that we are doing or saying or being.? It’s the thing we do that causes us to lose all track of time or space.? It’s the moment when the deepest part of us rises up and cheers.? Maybe we rub our hands together and hiss the “yesssss” between squinched teeth.? Or throw our arm high, pull it down hard while doubling over and jogging in place.? Again I ask them to notice just what it is that makes them bubble up inside until they fizz!
For me, it’s reflexology!? Every time I schedule a client, I hang the phone up and go, “Yes!”? Then during those sessions, when intuition divines the answers, the yes leaves me speechless and in awe. And always after every session, before the client gets out the door, I’m declaring “Yes!”
So may we be encouraged to take note of what it is in our lives that yields the yes response and then courageously give ourselves permission to create even more.?? It’s being aware of and truly smiling at the yeses in my life that make every mile of this journey so rewarding.
The Yes Response
It happens to us all.
The affirmative agreement, answer or reaction
To an idea, a desire, an event or an action.
Yes, it happens to us all.
Oh, it happens to us all.
This deep calling to the deep, that aching longing yen,
A silent screaming yearning, forever wondering where we’ve been.
Do we trump the call?
It happens to us all.
But are we saying ?yes? to yes, and is it really getting
Our attention, our awareness?how are we responding?
Are we listening at all?
Yes happens to us all.
It’s those satisfying moments when moments disappear,
And space dissolves to nothingness, yet everything is near.
Yes happens to us all.
It happens to us all.
That passion for our playing, voracious thirst and craving
For doing what we truly are and hearing what we’re saying
When yes orates the call.
Here’s a challenge posed to all.
To affirm with certainty, exactly and precisely
What it is that’s urging us so lovingly and wisely
When yes happens to us all.
