Marriage Rules: A Manual for the Married and the Coupled Up?by Harriet Lerner.
You know me: I’m all about small doable steps, one habit at a time, and practical ways to take control over your life.
That’s why I love Harriet Lerner’s books. Harriet has a special talent for phrasing her tips in a fun and juicy way that really inspires you.
In her latest book, Marriage Rules, Harriet shares strategies to improve relationships.? Exploring her 106 rules with my clients and in my own relationships has been a rich and meaningful process.
When my husband read the book he said that much of it could be applied to his work relationships too, and his relationships with his sisters. ?For romantic relationships, you’ll notice the positive change in dynamic even if only one of you reads the it.
Two of my favorite rules are rule #38 (?Turn off your stupid smartphone – iPhones off and out of sight during food preparation and eating meals and no taking calls when we’re in the middle of a conversation?) and rule # 19 (?Take the ?one-a-day? challenge – one criticism a day!?).
A must read for anyone that has relationships with other people. So, everyone.
I previously recommended another of Dr. Lerner’s books, ?The Dance of Fear.
Harriet will be one of the experts in our Wow Year Telesummit in January of 2013. Stay tuned!
