“My mom believed that the only way to manage her rheumatoid arthritis was by following doctor’s orders,” she said, “and she never found relief.”
A few years ago, this young woman reached out to me after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. She heard I am a Medical Intuitive. What began as a single consultation turned into a long-term therapeutic relationship that supported her journey to manage her condition. She has been symptom-free for a while now, and we continue our bi-weekly sessions.
Watching her mother struggle with rheumatoid arthritis, she learned a crucial lesson: her mother gave all the responsibility to the medical professionals, followed their orders, and took no responsibility for her self-healing process.
Her own journey was very different. She took an active role in managing her condition, listening to medical advice but taking the driver’s seat in her healing process. During our sessions, a combination of “talk therapy,” energy work, and Soul work, she learned not to fight the disease but to accept it and work with it to heal. Together, we got to the root cause of her physical symptoms and addressed past trauma. She learned to manage her emotions fully, guided by her soul. She made changes in her lifestyle and daily routine. Her vitality level is now much higher than it has ever been before. It has been a few years now since she has been symptom-free. Her healing process has empowered her in different areas of life. We still meet for our sessions, and I feel blessed to witness her continued growth and learning journey.
I never encourage people to rely solely on self-healing or alternative medicine. I never tell anyone to stop taking medication or to ignore medical advice. Western medicine saves lives. However, Western medicine often misses the opportunity to see the person as a whole and recognize that healing has many layers. In some of these layers, it’s essential for the individual to accept responsibility and make changes that support their healing process.
The Challenge of Managing Autoimmune and Chronic Diseases
Improving autoimmune and chronic diseases is challenging because it requires a multifaceted approach that goes beyond simply following medical advice. These conditions often involve complex interactions between genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors, making them difficult to manage.
People may struggle with the consistency and dedication needed for lifestyle changes, such as diet, exercise, and stress management, which are crucial for improving their condition. Additionally, the symptoms of these diseases can be unpredictable and debilitating, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness.
The Importance of Raising Vitality for Health
A healthy body has a high level of vitality, which means it has an abundance of life energy. Conversely, a body that is sick or prone to diseases has low life energy. Studies show that when the body experiences stress, the immune system can become compromised.
Therefore, if we are dealing with a health problem or illness, the first thing we want to do is raise our vitality—the life energy in our body. As this energy rises, it continues to increase and positively affects more areas of our health.
However, when our energy decreases, it creates a slippery slope: lower energy levels weaken us and can lead to disease.
Let’s step back and understand what vitality is and why it’s important.
In my book “Becoming Soulful: Six Keys for Profound Transformation in Your Therapy, Coaching, or Healing Practice,” Chapter 5 on Vitality, I explain life-force energy and vitality:
“All of existence is energy. Every thought, feeling, and action we experience is a form of energy. Our bodies are made up of energy that vibrates at specific frequencies, making us alive and connected. When our body’s energetic system is disrupted, physical symptoms can appear and affect our overall well-being. Life-force energy is believed to be the energy that flows through all living things, and it can be measured in humans and animals by their overall vitality.
Our bodies are constantly absorbing and releasing energy. When we are depleted or lacking life-force, it can manifest in physical symptoms such as fatigue, illness, or even depression. By recognizing when we are running low on life-force and taking proactive steps to restore balance, we can prevent further depletion and create a healthier version of ourselves.
Life-force energy is vital to our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. However, many of us may unknowingly leak our life-force energy, resulting in various imbalances and illnesses.”

Let’s Make It Practical
- Identify Actions to Stop and Start: Reflecting on the lists above, choose three things you are willing to STOP doing and three things you are willing to START doing to address leaking energy and raise your vitality. This personalized approach will help you focus on key areas where you can make meaningful changes.
- Create an Effective Plan: Think about the best way to use your awareness and the “Stop Doing” and “Start Doing” lists effectively. Consider how you can incorporate these changes into your daily life. Should you post the list in a visible space to remind yourself daily? Connect with it every morning as part of your routine? Share it with a friend and seek their support to develop personal accountability? Find a method that resonates with you and fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.
