In this book, Borysenko presents 21 expressions of unhealthy guilt. Here are some examples:
? I’m overcommitted
? I really know how to worry
? I’m a compulsive helper
? I worry about what other people think of me
? I never have any time for myself
? I’m a perfectionist
Borysenko explains how to use the awareness for those unhealthy guilt patterns, not as an invitation for self-criticism but as an invitation to reconnect with love and free choice.
After exploring different kind of guilt, like: Religious Guilt and New Age Guilt, Borysenko take us on a journey through spiritual transformational tools like: Compassion, Forgiveness and Unconditional love.
Following a step-by-step guide of how to have more of those in our lives will help any person to make better choices in their lives.
One of my favorite parts of the book is when Borysenko describes the power of unconditional love demonstrated in a film about Mother Teresa. ?When asked why she bothers to care for children who will soon die anyway, Mother Teresa replies simply that love is the birthright of every person. It’s what we’re all here on earth for. I found it easy to see that unconditional love ? given to us simply because we are ? completes circuit that connects us to life?.
