If your sleep schedule stinks right now, you’re not alone. Insomnia is a common challenge for many of us.
Even people who are coping well during the day report that they don’t sleep well at night. One of the women I work with described the phenomenon perfectly when she said:
“I wake up in the middle of the night, and reality hits me in the face. I worry about the world, and I can’t sleep for hours.”
Other women have shared with me that their sleep is lighter than before. They feel restless at night, and they wake up often.
I have to admit that nights have become more challenging for me as well.
In the last few weeks, I realized that I needed to practice what I preach and use some of the insomnia-beating techniques I share with others to help myself sleep better.
And the cool thing is that it worked!
Now I sleep really well…most nights.
There is no doubt in my mind that the challenges we face right now are providing us with opportunities. Opportunities to become more aware and more intentional about our well-being, including our sleep habits.
In this week’s vlog—recorded during a Facebook Live—I challenge you to look at your sleeping patterns.

Sweet dreams!
I am considered essential and working out in the public in a retail environment and it is like xmas season with energy level, but also trying to stay safe. It is non-stop energy. It is scary financially. I’m the only one bringing home the money. It’s a heavy burden. I wake up at 7am, waking up more at night, dreaming troubles, tired, but trouble falling asleep.
Antoinette: You are right! The energy level is really high right now. Many people feel restless at night. You are an essential worker, and on top of it you carry the financial responsibility on your shoulders. That’s a lot. Engaging in radical self-care is super important for you right now. I hope that you got inspired from some of the ideas I shared.
