Dolphins have been a source of interest to human beings from ancient times. A few days ago, while vacationing in Florida, I was reminded of an important lesson to be learned from them.
I was watching 3 dolphins interacting with each other and with people around them in an intelligent, playful and friendly way. What stood out for me was how effortless their movements appeared. Their easy, fluid movements projected joy and freedom. I then felt that same joy and freedom myself.
My tendency is to take life really seriously. To push, to fight, to make things happen. When I remember the dolphins, I stop fighting and I relax into the process and this brings a sense of peace to my situation. The dolphins remind me that playfulness is necessary to have balance in my life.
We grow up feeling pressured to improve, to do better, to work harder, and we often take life too seriously. We place heavy burdens on ourselves.
When we stop fighting and start playing, life becomes effortless and we find more joy in everything we do.(click to retweet)
The Bottom Line: Fighting and pushing is draining. When we let go of the pressure and feel at ease, we feel more energized, more in control, and more joyful.
Ask: How can I have a more playful attitude right now?
Affirm: I fight less, I play more, and I find joy effortlessly in life.
