6 steps to ?spring up? your motivation and get things done now

By Michal Spiegelman

spring up your motivation Remember that pantry you’ve been wanting to organize? Or that closet you’ve been saying you’ll clean? No more excuses?now is the time!

The winter cold may have formed an atmosphere of heaviness and stagnation, but now spring is coming! So let yourself move forward into the warmth of the months ahead and take some action!

Think: spring? awakening? growth? new beginning? renewal

Think: Opportunity!

Spring is the perfect time to get motivated, declutter, and clear those projects that were left ?hanging.? The ones that won’t leave your mind?think over and over again: ?I need to get it done!?

Here are 6 steps to ?spring up? your motivation and get things done now:

S ? Stop avoiding

P ? Prioritize!

R ? Relax into the process

I ? Inspire yourself and others

N ? Navigate your way

G ? Go for it!

Let’s explore the 6 steps:

S ? Stop avoiding

You lose more energy when you avoid a task than when you actually do it. (Click here to retweet)

Think about the closet that you’ve been meaning to clean up for months. Every time you reminisce on the mess and say to yourself: ?I have to get it done,? you lose energy.

Identify what you have been avoiding, and decide to take action instead! You’ll feel so much better.

P ? Prioritize!

After you have made the decision to stop dodging whatever it is, ask yourself the following question: On a scale of 1 ? 10, 1 being ?not at all? , 10 being ?Yes ? big time?, how important is it for you to get this task done?

If you have answered 7 or higher ? you’re good.

If you have answered lower than 7 ? this task is not a priority! It is likely you will not actually have enough motivation to get it done. Move on and pick something else!

R ? Relax into the process

It is not unusual for the ?should to? or ?need to? attitude to pressure you, leaving you stressed while you take action. Relax! You can get the same results, and maybe better ones, by simply relaxing into the process and having fun. Change your desire from ?should to? or ?need to? to ?want to.? Enjoy!

I ? Inspire yourself and others

To raise your motivation, share your excitement with others. Call a friend and share with her that you are about to start this exciting project you’ve been lingering over for months. Post it on facebook. Take a ?before? and ?after? picture so you yourself can see the transformation and feel the satisfaction. By sharing it with others you both inspire them to do the same, and raise your own level of enthusiasm and willingness.

N ? Navigate your way

Unrealistic expectations often act as a blockade, delaying people from taking action. They lead you to believe there is only one way to reach a result. In reality there are hundreds of ways! Choose a positive attitude and go with the flow. Navigate your way from where you are to where you want to be by exploring different ways and possibilities, and by opening your mind. There is no right or wrong way. Flexibility is key.

G ? Go for it!

Finally ? take action.

Simply DO IT! Right now!

Sometimes guilt is good

Have you ever heard of healthy guilt? Unhealthy guilt is toxic, but healthy guilt is a spiritual practice that helps us to recognize which of our values is taking priority. A “lazy” morning watching tv recently put my sense of both to the test.
